Description
Dr Cook Bitless Bridle
The original Dr Cook Bitless Bridle was originally developed by American university professor of veterinary medicine Dr Robert Cook.
Dr Cook's many years of research, which focused specifically on diseases of the respiratory tract, the oral cavity and various behavioural problems in riding horses, led to the irrefutable conclusion that a foreign body made of iron in the horse's mouth has a damaging effect on the horse's organism and psyche and is unsuitable as a means of communication with the horse.
Dr Cook Bitless Bridle beta
Beta Bridles Beta material is a synthetic leather made of vinyl-coated nylon fabric. Beta is very durable and easy to clean: simply rinse under water and leave to dry.
Effect
The Bitless Bridle works with distributed pressure on the gullets, the noseband and the neck strap due to the crossover of the holding/bridle straps. The first impulse hits the opposite gaiter so that the horse avoids this pressure and reacts accordingly. The bitless bridle is particularly popular with leisure riders, but is also used successfully in show jumping, dressage and western disciplines.
How to determine the right size
So that you can select a Bitless Bridle that is suitable for your horse, we first ask you to determine the size with the help of the Bitless Bridle size chart:
Measure 4 - 5 cm above the corners of the horse's mouth. From this point, measure the circumference of the nose to determine the size of the noseband. From the same point (4 - 5 cm above the corner of the mouth), run your measuring tape along the side of the head over the poll (behind the ears) to the same point above the corner of the mouth on the other side of the face. This is how you determine the size for the straps.
If you find it too cumbersome to run the measuring tape over the whole head, you can also measure the distance to the centre of the neck (the point exactly in the middle between the ears) and then double it. Or you can use a piece of string and then measure the length of the string.
Use these two measurements to determine which Bitless Bridle size your horse needs.

1 review for Bitless Bridle „BETA“
Dear Mr Markus!
I am sorry for a big delay. I am writing to you (finaly) to thank you for all the help and advices given me about BitlessBridle and general about your help about horses. I also have to apologise to you that I doubt about your delivery of BB.
Me and my friend Karolina are doing great. She really likes the BB:)). At first she was quite nervous, she usually twist her head. I think that she is not used to strips under the jaw. But overall she is calm, obedient for all the things happening around her and what is more important for me, that you cant hurt her when she scares for something, when you grab for reins and pull.
I am sending you some pictures about me and her. They were taken 1 month ago, when we were performing a battle for 1st WW. At first I was in doubt if I would go or not, but then I went. She was fine, maybe more than other horses :)).
I do not know how she will accept the BB in future but for now we are doing great.
Thank you for all your help.
Best wishes, Tilen Marušič
